SasuSaku- Summer Pain (Modern One-shot)
Sakura sighed. Another day was over, and she couldn’t wait to jump into her bed and let sleep possess her. As she walked the streets of Ginza, rain lightly fell. But it grew heavier and heavier until almost everyone had deserted the streets for cover.
But Sakura impatiently hurried home. By the time she had reached the park near her house, she was practically soaking wet. She shivered with cold even though it was summer.
Suddenly the beat of the rain on her skin stopped. She stared into ebony eyes. Uchiha Sasuke held an umbrella over her and watched her with amusment.
“You’ll catch a cold,” he said with an emotionless face.
Sakura blushed. Uchiha Sasuke, the most popular boy in school was holding an umbrella for her. He walked her home, and as they walked, the rain lightned.
When they reached her door, Sakura murmured a quick thanks, and rushed in with a slight blush on her cheek.
OOOO
Sakura sat down for lunch with her friends: Hinata, Ino, Tenten, and Temari.
Ino was talking about how Tenten and Lee were sssooo together, but Tenten looked like she was on the verge of pulling Ino’s hair out.
“OM!! Sakura, its Sasuke!” Ino suddenly squealed.
Sakura looked over her shoulder and there he was among his own friends: Naruto, Shikamaru, Neji, Lee, and Gaara. She blushed lightly as he walked past her, and hurried finished her lunch. She gathered her things and retired to the library.
She began looking through shelves for books on medical history and drugs. In her hand were about 5 thick books (she was often considered a nerd, but a pretty one) and she checked them out.
Sakura accidentally bumped into someone and books clattered to the floor. “I’m so sorry!” Sakura cried out.
She then realized that she had bumped into Sasuke, who said, “Hn. Be careful next time.”
They rapidly picked up their things, and Sakura escaped from the library.
The bell rang as she sat down in her seat before Hinata. Kakashi walked in 10 minutes later and immediately gave an excuse for being late.
Kakashi, being the lazy teacher he is, lazily said, “Alright. This class is ahead, so I guess you can chat, do your homework, or whatever.” He pulled a book out from his desk drawer and began reading.
The pink haired girl reached for her books, but then realized that something was wrong. She never checked books on fighting styles!
Hinata, in a quiet voice behind her, said, “What’s wrong?”
Then Sakura remembered. She must have grabbed Sasuke’s books when she bumped into him.
As if on cue, she felt a light tap on her shoulders, and saw the handsome Uchiha prodigy standing over her. In his hand, he held out her medical books.
Shyly, she exchanged the books and muttered an apology. It might have been her imagination, but she thought she saw a slight tug at the corner of his lips.
He walked away and Ino immediately plopped herself down on top of Sakura’s desk and began gossiping.
“Don’t you think Temari and Shikamaru have something going? I mean seriously-”
There was a loud of crack of thunder all of a sudden, and the lights went out. Girls began screaming, and boys were making a ruckus.
Kakashi sighed because there was no light for him to use to read. A boy ran through the door, “The lights! Because of the thunder! Tsunade wants everyone to stay quiet and in classrooms!” He spoke in short broken sentences.
Kakashi nodded and bade the boy leave. Whispers filled the room, and Sakura felt a tug of fear.
Fifteen minutes later, there was another crack of lightning, and seemed that something had exploded.
Kiba suddenly stopped talking and sniffed the air. “I think I smell smoke!!”
Kakashi immediately jumped into action, and ushered all of the children out. He counted each and realized that one was missing.
“Where’s Sakura?!”
“She went to the restroom five minutes ago!”
“Damn, I should have listened to instructions!” There was another explosion, and from the outside, fire could be seen leaping at the school.
“What about Sakura??!!” Ino wailed.
Before anyone could say anything, Sasuke jumped in through an open window. He searched the hallways, which were filled with smoke. He coughed heavily as it contaminated his lungs.
“Sakura!! Sakura!” He called in a hoarse voice, but he couldn’t see her.
He dropped to the ground for more air, and then saw a body on the ground.
He crawled over to the body and saw Sakura with soot over her face. He gently picked her up into his arms, and heard her cough.
“Hang in there…”
He searched for an open window, and saw one. Then he heard a loud pitch beeping. He turned and saw one of the school’s generators heating rapidly.
“Shi-“ He crashed out of the window and collided with the cool ground. Sakura lay beside him gasping for air. She had opened her eyes, which were staring at his.
Her mouth was moving, but her voice was too weak to make sounds. Same with him. He wanted to say that he was glad that she was alright.
But what confused him most was what made him jump into a flaming building to save her.
Then it began to rain. Sweet cool rain licked their skin, and the fire was put out. Their hair was drenched as ambulances arrived and rushed them to the hospital.
OOOO
She opened her eyes. Her head turned to the bedside table beside her. Flowers. Sakura petals.
And in a chair, sat Sasuke. He gazed at her and then spoke, “Are you alright?”
She nodded and thanked him.
He then stared at the ceiling and continued, “That’s good. I don’t understand why I jumped in there to save you.”
He got up and started walking over to her. Heat rushed up at her as he was so close to her, his face right above hers.
“But I guess that it all started with that summer’s rain.”
The gap between closed, and Sakura felt a warm and sweet feeling spread through her.

SasuSaku 4: Last Uchiha
A week later, Team Hebi arrived at the Akatsuki headquarters in the Rain Village. They found Itatchi standing there in the rain, unaware of what was to come. Sasuke unsheathed his sword and pointed it into the direction of his elder brother. Karin and Sakura swooned and blushed.
"Uchiha...Itatchi..." said Sasuke, his Sharigan flashing. Itatchi turned around.
"Foolish little brother..."

Sasuke's eyes widened as he stared at his brother's blood-soked corpse. His hands were now bright red with the stuff. A wide, evil grin spread across his face. He was the last Uchiha. A man in a swirly mask and and a man-plant-thing ran out to the site.
